In a groundbreaking partnership that combines the creativity of LEGO with the gaming phenomenon of Fortnite, the LEGO x Fortnite collaboration has taken the world by storm. This unexpected fusion of two beloved brands has sparked the imaginations of both LEGO enthusiasts and Fortnite fans, creating a unique experience that blends the popular battle royale game with the endless creativity of LEGO in this open-world, survival adventure installation.
While you may be familiar with some of the other popular collaborations that LEGO has been a part of, like the Star Wars LEGO and Harry Potter LEGO games, this one is much different. The game is featured within the Fortnite game and is included with its download, making it completely free. Not only this, but the objective of the game is not one that has been witnessed in any other LEGO video game before; it is a survival, building adventure game reminiscent of other popular sandbox games like Minecraft. The game holds many similar features, and is sure to keep you and your group of up to 7 additional friends (for a total of 8 people per world) occupied for hours!
Without spoiling too much, the game invites you and your friends to create a village for yourself and NPC characters to live in, who assist in gathering materials and food for the players. The village that can be built allows you to be as creative as you’d like, or it also allows pre-structured buildings that can be planned out and built, for those less creative players. This is one of the great things about the game; whether you choose to build your entire village from individual pieces, from the pre-structured builds, or a mix of both, the theme of the builds stay the same and look seamless. There are options for everyone!
Another part of this collaboration that has people excited is the conversion of a majority of Fortnite Battle Royale skins to a LEGO version; when readying up for a sandbox world, the game allows you to choose your loadout (skin only) prior to jumping in. Almost all of the skins from the game have a converted LEGO version - with some exceptions, of course. However, there are definitely plenty of converted skins to choose from and those that are missing are hardly noticeable. It should be mentioned that the Peely skin (the banana) is turning out to be a favorite among many! Check it out for yourself!
The game has some fun aspects for every type of gamer. It’s extremely collaborative, so while you can choose to gather resources and build together with a partner, other members of your squad can gear up and squad up to fight the many monsters, and even bosses that the vast open world has to offer. The game boasts fighting, building, farming, and more - for a free game, we think this collab is definitely a ‘victory royale’.
